Eastern Walnut
Commonly referred to as Black Walnut, our Eastern Walnut is sourced from the Great Lakes region and valued for its straight grain and golden-dark tones. Over time Eastern Walnut can lighten and develop more golden undertones.
The Joinery uses this designation to differentiate it from our Western Walnut, as Black Walnut grown in the Pacific Northwest has notably different characteristics.

Western Walnut
Our locally harvested Black Walnut, referred to as Western Walnut, comes from salvaged trees throughout the Pacific Northwest. With trees larger in scale, this wood features pronounced variation in color and grain, often showcasing knots and expressive figuring that make each piece one of a kind.
Western Walnut is also known for its beautiful lighter-toned live edge featured in many of our standard designs.
