The Skyline Bed and Nightstands are the creative collaboration of The Joinery, Studio Howard, and Portland Garment Factory. The juxtaposition of leather, wood, textiles and color offer an artistic vision – and represent the shared commitment of these Portland-based studios to design, craftsmanship and sustainability.

The Joinery is excited about this new bedroom collaboration with Studio Howard and Portland Garment Factory as it brings together wood, textiles, and art in a unified expression. Rooted in a shared commitment to thoughtful design, craftsmanship and sustainability, the collaboration reflects the values that connect all three Portland-based studios.

The design explores the relationship between structure and softness. The Joinery’s solid wood construction and meticulous joinery details are complemented by Studio Howard’s artistic perspective and Portland Garment Factory’s textile and upholstery fabrication, resulting in a piece that is both expressive and deeply functional.

“What we’ve enjoyed most is the spirit of creative experimentation that’s defined this partnership,” Howard noted. “Each studio brought craftsmanship, openness, and curiosity, creating the perfect conditions for new ideas to emerge.” Studio Howard’s use of upcycled materials in the collaboration was also an integral part as they were sourced exclusively from leather and fabrics scraps from The Joinery and PGF’s previous projects.

Designed for rest and reflection, the Skyline collection balance layered textiles with sculptural form. Visitors are invited to experience the tactile nature of the work and design details. Up close, each section reveals subtle variations in material and composition; from a distance, it resolves into a cohesive artistic vignette.
