We were all heartened by the response to our fundraiser to support our great friend and former Shop Foreman Kelly Schlegel as his wife battles cancer.
As we shared in our last newsletter, Kelly was with The Joinery for over 16 years and was our Shop Foreman since 2017. Last summer he and his family moved across country to start a new chapter in Vermont, and shortly thereafter his wife was heartbreakingly diagnosed with lymphoma.
To help support the family, The Joinery created a unique fundraiser by building a Custom Western Walnut Coffee Table (retail value $2,800) that we donated for a sweepstakes raffle, with all proceeds going to Kelly’s family. The lucky winner is one of our longtime customers from Portland. She read our newsletter about Kelly and entered the sweepstakes to support him, commenting that she was moved that we would take such thoughtful action to support a previous employee.
But the big winner was Kelly’s family, as with your help we raised $4500 for their cause. And this is in addition to the numerous donations to Kelly’s GoFundMe page – which is still open for any who may still want to contribute.
We are grateful for your generosity, which helps ease the financial weight and offer the family space to focus on what truly matters – family, healing, and hope.
