The World Forestry Center: Our new neck of the woods.

’Tis the season to settle into warm places and The Joinery is delighted to be spending some time in Portland’s World Forestry Center, adjacent to the Zoo and Children’s Museum.

Our furniture will be the featured exhibition in the WFC’s art gallery. We’re well-matched with this Oregon institution, not just because of the timber resources we use, but for how we use them. The WFC is similarly committed to sustainable forest management and environmentally responsible business practices. Visiting the Center is always rewarding — and now there’s never been a better time.

Join us on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, from 4-6pm, for an exhibition reception. The reception is open to the public, complimentary entrance to the Art Gallery.

We’ll still be on hand to help the WFC celebrate its 50th Anniversary Gala on February 6th. We’ve even designed a special Joinery memento to give to all the invited guests.

In addition to showing off some of our most representative designs, such as a live-edge bed and Whitman dining table, the exhibit includes a graphic display of the workmanship and practices that make The Joinery so unique, seen below. The cabinet features a customized live-edge western walnut top in the seven stages the wood goes through before becoming a completed piece of furniture. You can feel each step from rough wood, through the planing, sanding, oiling and waxing process. The cabinet is stuffed with briquette samples.

The Live-edge Western Walnut bed, below, is accompanied by Pacific Nightstands, Caravan Pacific Lamps and a custom made wall hanging by Holly Mueller Home.

We hope to see you there!
