August 2017

The design intent behind the Hayden Dining Table was to create a simplified trestle table with an overall clean and light form. Unlike normal kitchen duty, in table construction we kept things clean by removing the aprons.  We focusd on subtle details including exposed splines at the top and bottom of the legs, and a slight angle to the bottoms of the feet that keeps the table light and elevated.

A graduate of Maine College of Art, where she studied woodworking and design, Olivia began her professional woodworking career on the East Coast. She honed her skills on several challenging projects, including building a house in Maine. On an island. In the winter. While living in Massachusetts.

We figured this was pretty good training for understanding how climate can affect wood furniture (among other things!), and were very excited when Olivia joined our team two years ago.

Then our Joinery Furniture Repair and Maintenance seminar is for you. Our Finish team will be offering a Furniture Repair and Maintenance seminar loaded with helpful tips on the care of Joinery furniture. This seminar will feature general Feed-N-Wax application, how-to’s on repairing water rings, and the most fun part: steaming out dents with an iron.

Back by popular demand, The Joinery will again be providing materials and instruction to help kids build their own birdhouses during the 3rd annual Woodstock Gives Back celebration on September 11.

Please join us for this event sponsored by the Woodstock Community Business Association. Dozens of Woodstock businesses will be participating, with each selecting a local non-profit to partner with.

This year The Joinery will again be partnering with Friends of Trees, which has planted over 600,000 trees in Oregon since 1989.  Come by to meet Garry, the Friends of Trees mascot, and take part in the fun from 10:00-3:00.

30 birdhouses were made by kids in the Woodstock neighborhood. All of them did an amazing job.

While we did our best to keep track of everyone who came out to celebrate with us, we lost track around 350 people, which seemed like a good official number to land on for our 35th anniversary. We were pleased to see so many friends, including past and present customers, employees and business partners.

We humbly thank you all for making it possible to reach this point, and look forward to another 35 years of creating handcrafted furniture that’s here for good.
