April 2017

The Sebastian End Table is a gorgeous yet functional piece that can add color or richness to a variety of living spaces.  It is characterized by a circular top and legs that are completely rounded over.  The legs are pinned to the top with end-grain dowels that provide a beautiful design detail.  Its compact size allows the Sebastian to be used in a variety of placements throughout the living room, home office or bedroom.

Our annual Metamortise contest is here, where we resurrect scraps of lumber from previous furniture builds and transform it into creative furniture and accessory designs.  Last year brought more than a dozen innovative and beautiful designs ranging from games, lighting, artwork and of course multiple furniture designs.  This year we are partnering with Sabin-Schellenberg Professional Technical High School students, who are also creating pieces out of leftover lumber that we have provided them.

From 2.00-4.00 on Saturday, April 22 – Earth Day – we are hosting an event at The Joinery to see all the pieces and vote on for your favorites. To RSVP for the event click here. We will also hold a silent auction on the pieces submitted by the students, with all proceeds going back to the Sabin-Schellenberg Professional Technical High School.

By voting either online here or in our Woodstock showroom you can help crown the winning entries in this year’s contest, and be entered to win the piece of your choice. See photos of all the entries below.

Design Week Portland is a week-long, city-wide series of programs exploring the process, craft, and practice of design. The intent is to increase appreciation and awareness about design and its far-reaching effects on matters of cultural and social relevance, including community development, education systems, and the economy.

Together with Design Museum Portland, The Joinery will host a UNITE discussion event at our Yamhill showroom. The founders of Vitreluxe, Caravan Pacific, and Holly Mueller Home will discuss their inspiration for their designs along with their model of turning their craft into a business. Rick Turoczy, General Manager of PIE, will moderate this lively discussion and include audience participation.

RSVP here to join us! Drinks and appetizers from local partners will be served.
